Administrative
Clerical staff are the backbone of large organizations, such as Hawaiʻi Police Department. There are an array of administrative opportunities within the department that can provide a meaningful career with a steady salary and excellent benefits.
The breadth of administrative positions includes our Police Operations Clerks who work as the front lines at all our district police stations while Firearms Clerks in our Records and Identification Section process firearms permits and our Word Processing Center staff prepare police reports. Performing a variety of clerical and administrative work in preparing, checking, reviewing, evaluating, and refining forms, records, and similar materials; our administrative staff ensure the day-to-day operations of protecting the public runs smoothly!

Information Technology
The Hawaiʻi Police Department’s Information Technology Section is responsible for network management, application security and identity management, data security and firewall management, server management, mobile device management, desktop support, help desk support. HPD has information technology jobs spanning virtually all aspects of IT infrastructure and operations.
Finance
The Hawaiʻi Police Department’s Finance Section is responsible for the budget, accounts payable and receivable, payroll, contracts, grants, and the HPD storeroom. From purchasing bullets to staplers, they ensure we have the supplies we need and get paid on time!
Forensics
Hawaiʻi Police Department’s forensics personnel are crucial to solving crimes because they gather and analyze scientific evidence that can uncover the truth, identify perpetrators, and ensure that justice is served with accuracy and integrity.
Our Crime Lab team conducts drug testing, latent print development, swabbing for DNA, serial number restoration on firearms and vehicles, and much more.
HPD’s Evidence Specialists respond to crime scenes to assist detectives with investigations, searching for, recovering, preserving, and marking physical evidence at crime scenes. With technology rapidly advancing, they are also actively involved in the digital evidence collection.
