DUI Stats

During the week of March 24, through March 30, 2025, Hawai‘i Island police arrested 25 motorists for driving under the influence of an intoxicant. Nine of the drivers were involved in a traffic crash. Two of the drivers were under the age of 21.
So far this year, there have been 240 DUI arrests compared with 230 during the same period last year, an increase of 4.35 percent.

Hawai‘i Police Department’s Traffic Services Section reviewed all updated crashes and found 247 major crashes so far this year, compared with 255 major crashes during the same time last year, a decrease of 3.1 percent.
To date, there have been 7 fatal crashes resulting in 8 fatalities, compared with 12 fatal crashes resulting in 14 fatalities for the same time last year. This represents a decrease of 41.7 percent for fatal crashes and 42.9 percent for fatalities.
So far in 2025, the non-traffic fatality count (not on a public roadway) is zero, compared to zero non-traffic fatalities for the same time last year.
DUI roadblocks and patrols will continue island wide.
