DUI Stats

During the week of February 17, through February 23, 2025, Hawai‘i Island police arrested 18 motorists for driving under the influence of an intoxicant. Six of the drivers were involved in a traffic crash. One of the drivers was under the age of 21.
So far this year, there have been 145 DUI arrests compared with 150 during the same period last year, a decrease of 3.33 percent.

Hawai‘i Police Department’s Traffic Services Section reviewed all updated crashes and found 136 major crashes so far this year, compared with 134 major crashes during the same time last year, an increase of 1.5 percent.
To date, there have been seven fatal crashes, resulting in eight fatalities compared with five fatal crashes, resulting in five fatalities for the same time last year. This represents an increase of 40 percent for fatal crashes, and 60 percent for fatalities.
To date, the non-traffic fatality count (not on a public roadway) is zero, compared to zero non-traffic fatalities for the same time last year.
DUI roadblocks and patrols will continue island wide.
