Unsolved Homicides

Hawai‘i Police Department believes every victim deserves justice, and that the deceased victim’s family, friends, and community deserve closure.

There is NO statute of limitations on murder. Our dedicated Unsolved Homicides Division, steadfast in its pursuit of identifying those who take the life of another, is responsible for following all leads and evidence in unsolved homicide investigations. Our detectives see it as their solemn duty to bring these killers to justice.

We recognize that the department’s greatest resource in solving homicide cases is information from witnesses, family, friends, and our island community.

  • Gayle Hook Murder (A-71462)
    On April 6, 1973, some high school kids checking out the area near Kahikolu Trinity Church in the Nāpoʻopoʻo area (Kealakekua) discovered the partially decomposed body of a woman.   • Kallen Agliam Murder (G-56321)
    On January 31, 2001, at 5:17 p.m., a passerby discovered the body of Kallen Agliam, age 19, on the side of the roadway off of the old Hilo Coast Processing Plant Road in Pepe’ekeo.   • Sean Burgado Murder (F-27882)
    When Sean Burgado, age 27, did not show up for work for a few days in May 1997, his employer asked a neighbor to check Burgado’s home in the upper Waiakea Uka area of Hilo.   • Bradley Bussewitz Murder (H-69230)
    A little after 9 a.m. on November 2, 2003, a hunter discovered the decomposed body of a man in a remote area off of Saddle Road (Route 200) near the 12 mile-marker in South Hilo.   • Lynn Ebisuzaki Murder (C-60060)
    On May 1, 1987, at 9:15 p.m., Lynn Ebisuzaki, age 26, walked out of a residence she was visiting in the 500 block of Kanoelehua Avenue near the airport in Hilo.   • Glenn Guerrero Murder (F-03588)
    On August 12, 1996, around 3:45 p.m., the body of Glenn Guerrero, age 18, was discovered off a dirt road above the Shipman Ballpark, now known as the Buddy Perry Soccer Fields in Keaʻau.
