DUI Stats

During the week of February 10, through February 16, 2025, Hawai‘i Island police arrested 21 motorists for driving under the influence of an intoxicant. Seven of the drivers were involved in a traffic crash. Two of the drivers were under the age of 21.
So far this year, there have been 127 DUI arrests compared with 130 during the same period last year, a decrease of 2.31 percent.

Hawai‘i Police Department’s Traffic Services Section reviewed all updated crashes and found 113 major crashes so far this year, compared with 119 major crashes during the same time last year, a decrease of 5.04 percent.
To date, there have been six fatal crashes, resulting in seven fatalities (one fatal crash was reclassified to a medical condition, one fatal crash had multiple deaths) compared with five fatal crashes, resulting in five fatalities for the same time last year. This represents an increase of 20 percent for fatal crashes, and 40 percent for fatalities.
To date, the non-traffic fatality count (not on a public roadway) is zero, compared to zero non-traffic fatalities for the same time last year.
DUI roadblocks and patrols will continue island wide.
