During the week of January 27, through February 2, 2025, Hawai`i Island police arrested 12 motorists for driving under the influence of an intoxicant. Six of the drivers were involved in a traffic crash. None of the drivers were under the age of 21.

So far this year, there have been 82 DUI arrests compared with 88 during the same period last year, a decrease of 6.8 percent.

Hawai‘i Police Department’s Traffic Services Section reviewed all updated crashes and found 78 major crashes so far this year, compared with 87 major crashes during the same time last year, a decrease of 10.3 percent.

To date, there were four fatal crashes, resulting in four fatalities compared with four fatal crashes, resulting in four fatalities for the same time last year.  

To date, the non-traffic fatality count (not on a public roadway) is zero, compared to zero non-traffic fatalities for the same time last year. 

DUI roadblocks and patrols will continue island wide.
