DUI Stats
During the week of January 6, through January 12, 2025, Hawai`i Island police arrested 23 motorists for driving under the influence of an intoxicant. Ten of the drivers were involved in a traffic accident. One of the drivers were under the age of 21.
So far this year, there have been 35 DUI arrests compared with 29 during the same period last year an increase of 20.7 percent. The numbers of arrests by district were:

Hawaii Police Department’s Traffic Services Section reviewed all updated crashes and found 26 major crashes so far this year, compared with 32 major collisions during the same time last year, a decrease of 18.8 percent.
So far in 2025, there have been two fatal crashes, resulting in two fatalities compared with three fatal crashes, resulting in three fatalities for the same time last year. This represents a decrease of 33.3 percent for fatal crashes and 33.3 percent for fatalities.
To date, the non-traffic fatality count (not on a public roadway) is zero, compared to zero non-traffic fatalities for the same time last year.
DUI roadblocks and patrols will continue island wide.
