Elderly Waikoloa Man Critically Injured in Single-Vehicle Crash

A 74-year-old Waikoloa man sustained life-threatening injuries in a single-vehicle collision in Waikoloa Village on Wednesday afternoon, January 1, 2025.

At approximately 5:11 p.m., Hawai‘i Police Department officers responded to scene of the crash at the intersection of Eleele Street and Haena Street. Preliminary investigation revealed that the man was operating a blue 2019 Mercedes-Benz 300 SUV that was traveling southbound on Eleele Street when it crossed over the double-solid yellow lines, struck a rock wall, and overturned.

He sustained multiple injuries and was transported to the North Hawai‘i Community Hospital for treatment where he is listed in critical condition.

The investigation is ongoing and no further details are available at this time.

The Area II Traffic Enforcement Unit has initiated a major traffic collision investigation.
