4-15-24 (Update) Kailua-Kona Man Arrested and Charged in Kona Robbery Investigation

Media Release

Kona patrol officers located and arrested 21-year-old Peter Melling of Kailua-Kona early Friday morning, April 12, 2024. Melling was wanted for a Robbery that occurred at a shopping center located at the 75-5800 block of Ali‘i Drive in Kailua-Kona on Thursday morning, April 11, 2024.

As a result of their continued investigation, Detectives with the Area II Criminal Investigation Section (CIS)  arrested Melling for the following offenses:

  • One count of Robbery, Second Degree
  • One count of Assault, Third Degree

After conferral with the County Prosecutor, Melling was charged with the above-mentioned offenses and his bail was set at $22,000.00.

Melling was released on April 13, 2024 after posting bail, with an initial court appearance scheduled for May 9, 2024 at 9:00 a.m. at Kona District Court.
