Dispatcher Honored for Consistent Top Quality Work
Hawaiʻi Police Department is pleased to announce that Police Communications Officer Leeann Tehero was named Dispatcher of the Quarter for the third quarter of 2024, (July, August, and September) on Friday, October 25, 2024.
Tehero was honored for her impactful presence and positive influence on duty. Known to be a self-starter, Tehero can be counted on to complete detailed daily logs and records in a timely manner, troubleshoot systems errors on her own, all while handling her own call load. Of particular note was a busy call day at the beginning of October 2024, when Tehero handled three challenging calls simultaneously, calmly managing each situation.
Whether training new dispatchers or covering multiple calls at once, Tehero brings empathy and detail to each situation.
“I am grateful to have her on my watch,” said Supervising Police Communications Officer Cassie Fernandez, who nominated Tehero for the award. “Her performance sets standards in Dispatch”, noting that Tehero has consistently been a top performer in both the quality and quantity of her work over her entire nine-year career with the department.
Fernandez went on to say that Tehero answers both emergency and non-emergency calls with attentive speed and “doesn’t let section challenges like screaming callers, sharp patrol comments, or equipment failures detract from her professionalism or ability to complete all her daily assignments… She is committed to providing the highest quality of police service and she makes the work feel effortless.”
